Meaning of Technology and the reason for its importance. 5 technological inventions of the 14th century

significado-e-importancia de la tecnología
Before addressing the meaning of technology and its importance, it is necessary to know the origin of this word. The term technology mora in Greek and is nothing more than the union of two words τεχνολογία, which translates as art , and λογία, which is synonymous with treatise.
In short, the meaning of technology is summed up by the set of knowledge and skills with a firm objective: to obtain a solution that helps human beings both to solve a problem and to satisfy a need in a specific field.
In the process of discovering the world and its evolution, man used it from the beginning because it has helped him adapt to the environment. The advancement of high technology has made it possible to conquer the limits of communication and minimize the gap between people around the world.
Thanks to it, the rapprochement between the most distant places is increasing, and, as a result, the standard of living has been rising. What used to take hours to complete can now be executed in seconds. Life is much more hectic and the world becomes smaller.

Technological advances have become an integral part of our lives. It is enough to see around us that at all times and in all contexts, we are surrounded by technology, whether working or resting, is present to make our lives easier.

Needs are easily covered and our standard of living is improved. All industries benefit from technology, be it medicine, tourism, education, entertainment, among many others. Companies have become more efficient, which has led to new job opportunities.

Let's cite mobile devices as an example. As time progresses, the world speeds up, and more technological advances appear. Laptops have smaller, slimmer form factors; each year they increase efficiency, offer more capacity and show better performance. They assimilate a greater volume of information quickly and accurately.

Same is the case with phones, the need for communication in any time and place, has been taken as a reference for the creation of cell phones, which are becoming smaller and with more features, games, entertainment ;"> and applications, until they become similar to a pocket computer . The price in the market goes down as new products are launched, which makes them more accessible.

The importance of technology almost always goes hand in hand with its practical use:

If the creation of a new technology comes to have a high cost, and becomes complicated when manufacturing, it would be unsuccessful. That's why the prize goes to simple technology, rudimentary as it may seem. Likewise, technology is constantly advancing, being in general the practical development of the emergence of new ideas emerging from scientific disciplines. that necessarily links it to the concept of innovation.

In modern society, technology becomes necessary; scientific efforts revolve around the creation of new technologies capable of meeting the needs of society and achieving an increase in the level of well-being. In practice, technology is always used for the benefit of humanity(there are important exceptions, such as warfare technologies), but it is always a way to meet the growing needs of the modern world.

Technologies of greater value have always emerged, depending on the needs of the humanity. The emergence of telephones was caused by the need for communication, like the television, the radio , internet. According to the health needs, there have been advances in surgery , general medicine, clinical analysis.

In the economic sector new industrial technologies, process technologies, of extraction. We could cite innumerable examples because there is no area where technology is not present: be it educational, industrial, political, social, legislative, scientific, etc., insofar as it admits an improvement of the final result or a minimization of intermediate processes.
The BAT (Best Available Technology) concept, or best available technology, in Spanish, is closely linked to this. Many of the modern concepts of ecology and sustainability are based on the term, through the constant improvement of the technologies used in the industry to prevent pollution.
The great problems, after the industrial revolution, include not only the social ones, but the environmental, are a vivid example of how wrong this approach is. Currently, not only is an attempt made to increase production, but new technologies take care of other aspects, such as the social, the well-being of the workers themselves or the environmental benefit.
modern technology has become a very important tool in human life and without its presence the world would be completely different, but social inequality means that many people do not have access to it.

On the other hand, the rapid development of new devices promotes consumerism, and abusing their use brings health consequences such as visual stress, insomnia, deafness or obesity, among others. By spending so much time glued to our cell phones, tablets, computers, etc., we stay away from what happens around us, so our life with others is affected little by little.

The use of technology is unlimited, as well as its changes for improvement; With the vertiginous development of science, people's lives demand new markets for the growing needs that follow one another. It will be up to us, then, to give it the right purpose to make our lives more prosperous and comfortable.
